Yay! Finally got my bedroom set! Went out with Tunang yesterday after work to view the bedroom sets Mum and I saw on Thursday. Met Tunang at TKC and headed to The Green. Passed Jun Qiang along the way and showed Tunang the bedroom set that's identical to the one at Joo Chiat but we didn't go into the store.
So, at The Green, showed Tunang the set and thankfully, he liked it too. I guess he wanted to walk around a bit but seeing that I really liked the set, we settled for it. We got the mattress there as well and since they're having a promotion, we got a $100 voucher to get lamps or vases as well. And we got 2 Japanese-styled bedside lamps! Nice!
Tunang paid a deposit of 30% of the whole cost and after that, we headed home cos I looked that I'd keel over any moment.
All in all, it was quite a pleasurable experience shopping together. And maybe next time, we'd look for hantaran items or the dowry.

Mum and Dad went to JB on Tuesday. They went to visit some relatives and on the way back, they went to Angsana. It's a pleasant surprise cos they met Tunang and family there. They were looking at berkats and Tunang wanted to show his family the studio package. Even his Mum agreed that the outfits were great. Hehe.
Mum and Dad bought a box of corsage for the kendarats to wear. They didn't have enough light maroon coloured corsage so Mum mixed it with cream coloured ones. They're quite nice.
And today, went berkat hunting. But it turned out to be an eventful outing cos I managed to see berkats, jewellery and beds. Hee. Aunt and Cous Yani came along. First stop, Ming Seng goldsmith. I saw a bangle which I've taken a liking to. Quite expensive though. *sobs* If i can't get it this time, nevermind. I'll save and get it next time. Hopefully. If it's still there. Didn't really had time to look at the rings.
Next, went to Bimla. The berkats there were okay. But still have not decided which one to get. Luckily getting married is only a one-time affair cos it's SO tiring! There's so many things to think about. Anyway after that, we went to 3 furniture shops. The first one at Joo Chiat Complex and the other 2 at Tanjong Katong Complex.
The one at Joo Chiat was not bad. They're still having the GSS and a bedroom set consisting of a queen size bedframe , a side table, a dressing table with stool, a 4 door cupboard and mattress for only $1988! And it's all wood. The one i liked was in walnut colour. The headboard is quite plain but there's carvings of leaves at the corner, which gives it an elegant look. And by adding $300, you will receive a full set of exquisite bedspread and quilt set.
At TKC, we went to MANIQ for a while cos Aunt wanted to see the shoes and handbag that I've ordered at Expo. The material I bought was also there so I showed Aunt. She said it's beautiful. Yey! And there's so many designs to choose from for the shoes that I can't decide. Someone must come along with me to choose them. Hehehe.
After MANIQ, we went to Lee Furniture. The furniture there is not bad. There's a set which looks okay to me but I still need Tunang's advice on this. After all, it's gonna be our bed and I want him to make the choice with me.
Last place we went to was The Green. Here's the place I saw the bedroom set that I really liked. The price is $1799 and they will also give a $200 mattress voucher. The bedframe has a very chic look to it. There's storage under the bed and it's made of solid wood (personally, I don't know if it's good or not but from his tone, I guess it must be good). The dressing table and side table are identical in design and the wood colour matches the bedframe as well.
Tomorrow, I'm going to Geylang again but with Tunang this time. I really hope we can make the decision soon so I can strike off another item from the checklist. Hee.

Just got back from Pameran Pengantin at Singapore Expo. Mum and Tunang were with me. Tunang wanted to survey for videoman and cameraman for the event. As for me, it's looking out for lace or whatever material that is suitable for our solemnization outfit.
After spending almost an hour there, Ta-Da! We spotted Maniq and voila! what I was looking for! Rows and rows of lace (or whatever material it is! I don't care but all i know is that all of them are beautiful!!)!
Okay, let's not get too excited here. Hahaha. So, the owner of the shop, Abg Ali, talked to us and asked us what we need the material for. We told him we need something for our solemnization. He asked if we wanted the normal (and boring!) cream or white. I personally wanted to stick to those kind of colours but then he explained that we could actually use the same outfit for future usage like Hari Raya or wedding dinner. Then he left us to decide after showing us a few more colours.
I was torn between a beautiful and glamourous-looking yellow lace fabric and a sweet pastel lilac lace fabric. Both looks equally good when I put them close to my body. Finally, Tunang and me decided on the lilac one. But to my disappointment, the fabric was only wat Abg Ali called half-lace, which can only be used to make the top and some patches to the kain. So, no lilac.
Wanted to decide on the yellow fabric when Abg Ali took out more and more materials to show us. Pening sey! And the ironic thing is, I didn't settle for the yellow one which I really, really wanted cos I think it's very gorgeous. I settled for something green. The pattern on the fabric is exactly like the yellow one so I guess I don't pretty much bother about the colour. But it did look good when I tried it on my body. Errrmmm.. Ok fine, I admit, I think if I were to put everything on me and then try to decide which one I want, I'd probably still be there, making up my mind so... nevermind.
Anyway, this actually comes with a package. The fabric will be made into an outfit, which Tunang and I will decide based on pictures from magazines. There will also be 2 other items to choose from. You can actually choose if you want matching sequined handbag, matching sequined shoes, sequined veil, sequined selendang or something else. For now, I'm thinking of the handbag and shoes but if i still want to add anything, I'd just have to pay another $50 per item.
Tunang also bought his solemnization outfit material from the same shop. And the package they offer is $599 for a couple. $399 for mine and $200 for him. And he will be getting a nice pair of Baju Melayu (in whatever style), a piece of kain sampin (I think it's made from Brocade fabric) and matching songkok. And not just ordinary sampin or songkok, it's tailor made to suit the owner and also to suit the colour of the Baju Melayu. I think the whole package is not bad cos the shoes and handbag can be used for hantaran. And furthermore, Mum went to ask the cost of a ready-made Kebaya (Jawa styled) and it cost $450! So might as well stick to this one right?
And so, that's basically what I did today. Preparations are going pretty well so far and I'm feeling much better now.
So next stop - berkat hunting??

went to JB with Tunang to hunt for some berkats (wedding favours) and also quotations for baju nikah this morning. As a start, we went to Xtra, where there's a shop that sells berkats and also boxes for the hantaran. Not bad, each box is about RM17 only. But the choices for berkats are a bit limited though.
There's also a shop that sells all sorts of kebayas meant for wedding. Not bad actually, the designs are quite exclusive and even if you don't want to get one that has been made, you can get just the material and ask them to tailor-make for you.
Price range:
Ready-made kebayas (combination of lace and satin?): RM380
Songket material: RM180
After brunch, we headed to Plaza Angsana. The berkats sold at the shops are mainly potpourris in sachets, scented soap and small mugs.
We also went into Exclusive Bridal Collection to enquire about their studio package. I find the price very affordable. For 7 outfits, 21 poses (indoors and outdoors), a large (the size you usually see hung up above the bed), medium and small photo framed, a CD containing all the pictures you have taken (about 40 over shots) and 40 photos to be distributed to friends for keepsake; all for only
RM1650! They also have leather-bound albums with metallic pictures as well. For that package, it's between RM2100 to RM3000+.
BUT, you also get to wear 1 exclusive outfit for this one; something you can't find in the package above. But whichever package, it doesn't really matter because the range of outfits there are magnificent! If you ask me to choose 7 outfits, I'd have a tough time deciding. :)
Ok, so some of you might ask, how different is it from the studio package in Singapore? I've made a comparison to a few bridal services here. For example, this one:
12 copies of 8R Studio Photo
1 imported High Quality 8R Size Studio Album
1 Portait Size 20 x 16 Canvas and Frame
24 copies of 3R Photo
1 Table Top 8 x 10 ( with frame )
1 Day Bridal Make-up and Hair-do
5 couples of Differents Costumes for Photography Session
Price? S$998. And another one:
6 Pakaian
Make-Up
Hair Do
Accessory
1 Potrait Canvas + Frame 12 x 18
1 Table Top 8 x 10
1 Studio Album 8 x 12
Price? S$1200. How's that?
Ok next are some pictures from Nani Minicupcakes. I'll only put this up for a while cos I'm not sure if I'm actually allowed to post pictures from her Flickr account. Neway, here they are.

Cute little butterflies! Pretty aren't they?

And this ones even have roses on them!
Don't you think it'll be perfect for berkats? Or maybe I can order some for the hantaran to give to Tunang. :)

The event venue has been changed. *sobs* Too bad i can't have the event at the comfort of my own home since the whole area is undergoing upgrading. Lucky for me, my aunt who's living nearby allowed us to use her place for the event venue.
Abg Ramlan and Kak Hana came over just now to see the event location. The void deck is kind of narrow with
a lot of pillars. There is no way to use round tables ONLY so, i'd have to settle for both round AND square tables.
Before Abg Ramlan and Kak Hana went off, they left me 3 stacks (erm, actually 2 albums and 1 stack) of sample wedding cards to choose from. Arghhhh! I hate making decisions cos all of them look equally good! Somebody help!!
As for wedding favours, currently, i'm thinking of getting mini cupcakes from Nani. The cupcakes look so yummy! But then again, it's still KIV cos i need to discuss with my parents and also with Tunang.
Oh well, dat's about it i guess. I am SO, SO excited!! 6 more months to go! Hee.
